People Mover at Chicago O'Hare Airport
Engagement:
Matra Transport SA, a Paris based multi-national transportation and defense contractor retained Lakeland Asset Management as construction supervisor and project director to complete the project after it had fallen into litigation between the City of Chicago, the FAA and the General Contractor.
Process:
Lakeland Asset Management assumed immediate control of the project which required working with the City of Chicago, the French headquarters of Matra Transport SA, the Chicago-based French team and the Chicago-based General Contractor Kenny Construction. The project needed to be completed whilst easing tensions that had built up over the previous years and resolving the complex legal issues between the respective law firms.
Outcome:
During this 3 year engagement Lakeland Asset Management achieved the following:
......- Relieved the deadlock between the French company and the General Contractor so that construction could ........ start again. Liens were removed and project cash flow was reinstated.
......- Resolved the outstanding technical issues to create a cohesive and functioning system to meet contract ........ requirements.
......- Resolved political issues between the City of Chicago, the French company and the Airport/FAA.
......- Successfully negotiated a financial settlement with the City of Chicago for liquidated damages due to
